When I prompted an inquiry on a subreddit of those suffering with Long COVID, I asked their thoughts on the connection between LC and ME/CFS as well as possible holistic treatments (especially osteopathic / psychedelic medicine). Here are some of their responses:
“Oh yeah we’ve known this. Unfortunately doctors don’t believe in chronic Lyme or EBV & it seems that it’s going to be the same for chronic Covid (long Covid) sooo it seems like were screwed.”
“Thank you for posting this. Unfortunately what a lot of us bump up against is pcp’s that write it off as anxiety. I had a list of symptoms a mile long, also evidence tracking with my Apple Watch ie: low hrv (averaging 18 to 27) insomnia sleep patterns tracked etc. His response: “would you like a referral to a psychiatrist?” I’m a holistic practitioner, I have detailed knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology as a LMT. As a CranioSacral therapist, I know how the nervous system works and functions. As a 40 year old, I know how I have felt my entire life before covid. To be dismissed is really hard.”
“Hello. I am so glad to see this because I keep telling my doctor I don’t feel good and they just seem to dismiss this and I really believe there’s a correlation. I am now on Wellbutrin and they said once I started taking this I would be fine but I’ve never been the same after Covid. I also developed severe depression after Covid which I believe wS related and I had mild symptoms. It hurts me more to exercise then not and it’s frustrating. Thank you for sharing.”
“Thank you for realizing this as a physician. I’ve lost trust in all my doctors. My neurologist doesn’t know that Covid is neurological.”
“It’s pretty wild that tens of thousands of people with no professional training warned very accurately about this from early 2020 and most physicians are still far behind. I don’t think there’s anything comparable to this, an entire professional industry lagging years behind a community of sick people with brain fog. How embarrassing.”
“Just want to give a huge shout out to any physician exploring psychedelic medicine. I’ve done extensive research on psilocybin and all of the wonderful things it can do for the mind and body.
It’s on my list of things to try absolutely 😊”
