Entering a New Domain

To move forward with this site – I would like to update the reader on some new changes. I have combined the domain “consciousosteopathy.com” with the former “psychedelicosteopath.com” to allow for more breadth of exploration.

The frontier of psychedelic medicine is necessarily intertwined with politics and inconsistent regulatory aspects. Further, there remains several unknowns for the future of the field. Things may lead to either more prohibition or the “recrealization” of these powerful compounds (much like that of marijuana). Both movements of course have complicated consequences.

In any case, I am becoming less interested in narrowing my perspective in psychedelic healing in conjunction with somatic healing. While this will remain a topic of interest on this site, it will remain one of many topics that I wish to explore. Other extra-ordinary states of consciousness have equal footing in this realm (music therapy / sound healing, meditative states, biofeedback training, prayer, holotropic breathwork, etc).

As the field of consciousness science continues to unfold, Osteopathy remains in a unique place to contribute perspective. From the field’s beginning, AT Still challenged status quo philosophy in medicine – and there remain several prominent philosophical figures in the field (James Jealous, Anne Wales, and their academic descendants, just to name a few).

So, as this site (now labeled Conscious Osteopathy), moves forward, I hope to explore all areas of conscious healing and osteopathic philosophy. The same goal remains: to help move forward the needle in appropriately treating the complex patients dealing with chronic pain, trauma, and addiction.

Welcome to this new venture and anticipate some interesting topics in the near future! Enjoy the inspiration from Anne Wales, DO below.

Anne Wales, DO (1917–2001)

United States

Early osteopathic physician and one of the profession’s pioneering women, known for her influential teaching at the American School of Osteopathy. She emphasized gentle, precise manipulative techniques and helped refine osteopathic approaches to cranial treatment at a time when the field was still being formally defined. She was an important preserver of Dr Sutherland’s cranial work.

Famous quote:

“The forces that create form also maintain function.”
— Anne Wales, lecture recorded 1991; cited in The Cranial Letter, Osteopathic Cranial Academy, Feb 2017.
